Blackberry Mint Gimlet. A bright red drink that is naturally colored by the blackberries. Even those who don't like gin might like this one. #gin #blackberry #mint #refreshing #gimlet #blackberrymintgimlet

Blackberries and mint always go well in a mojito, but have you ever tried them in a gimlet? Let me introduce you to The Cardinal. The Cardinal is named after the pretty red bird, because of its bright deep red color. In The Cardinal you taste all of the flavors, the blackberry, the mint, and the lime.
My favorite type of gin to use is a gin called Esme, but honestly in this drink you can barely even taste the gin. Which makes this drink very dangerous.
Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
This recipe will make one drink.
What you need
2 oz Gin
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Lime
6 Blackberries
6 Mint Leaves
Sugar (optional)
Shaker
Strainer
Ice
Muddler
Directions
Pour 2 oz of gin into a shaker
Add 5 blackberries and 5 mint leaves to the shaker
Muddle the blackberries and mint leaves until they seem smashed enough
Squeeze 1 oz of lime juice into the shaker
Pour 3/4 oz of simple syrup into the shaker
(Optional) put lime juice on the rim of your glass then roll it in sugar
Add ice to your glass (I prefer an ice ball)
Put ice in the shaker
Shake the shaker until the shaker feels cold or until you don't hear any of the ice
Strain your drink into the glass
Garnish with the last blackberry and mint leaf
Enjoy!
